Legislative Update:  Summary of PA’s New Lobbying Disclosure Act

On November 1, 2006, Governor Rendell signed HB 700, Printers’ Number 4887, on lobbying disclosure into law as Act 134 of 2006.  The Lobbying Disclosure Act, which became effective on January 1, 2007, is a comprehensive law that applies to persons engaged in “lobbying” and provides for further ethical standards definitions and for lobby regulation and disclosure by any person or entity that is paid or pays to influence the actions of the General Assembly and/or the Executive Department of the Pennsylvania state government.

A summary of the new Lobbying Disclosure Act is available through the Department of State’s website and can be accessed by clicking here.
