(November 30, 2007)

On December 6, 2007, Carroll F. (Dan) Purdy, Jr. will be recognized posthumously as the 2007 John Harris Award Honoree by the Historical Society of Dauphin County (HSDC) at its annual Deck the Halls gala at the John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion.  The award recognizes Mr. Purdy’s significant contributions to the community, his profession, and the lives of others.

Mr. Purdy, who passed away on September 8, 2007, had served as Of Counsel at Thomas, Thomas, Armstrong & Niesen since 1999, prior to which time he had practiced as a partner with the firm from its inception.  He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh cum laude in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts in History.  In 1959, he received his Juris Doctorate degree at the University of Michigan.

Founded in 1869, the HSDC has been headquartered at the Harris-Cameron Mansion, a National Historic Landmark, since 1941.  It seeks to collect, preserve, exhibit, publish, and promote interest in the history of Dauphin County for the education, enjoyment, and benefit of the public.
