PA PUC:  Commission Adopts Final Rulemaking Order Regarding Interexchange Telecommunications Carriers and Service

(January 26, 2008)

On August 8, 2007, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (“Commission”) adopted a final rulemaking order that sets forth provisions of Act 183 of 2004, which enacts an amended version of original Chapter 30 providing for regulatory reform of the telephone industry in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  The rulemaking eliminates regulations that require interexchange telecommunications carriers (“IXCs”) to file tariffs for intraState competitive services and establishes a permissive detariffing policy for the statutory categories of competitive services offered by IXCs.

A copy of the final rulemaking as published in the Pennsylvania Bulletin is available by clicking here.
